Last night I went thru so many Obstacles to get to her and I didn't take no as an answer! I didn't even have a ticket for the show! Then security told me I'm not allowed to bring a painting in the venue, I waited 6 hours before I got to get backstage thanks to @facesbykoko @drizzy_drew215 @its_cancan and the homie @djaktive I stayed determined! Ending result she required my info and gave me hers for more consigned work! #Dedication #persistence #FailureIsNotAnOption #DreamChaser #ivbenTaqiy #LaurynHill #LBoogie

allhiphop.com/2012/11/08/hip-hop-rumors-how-did-lauryn-hill-upset-philly-fans/Hip-Hop Rumors: How Did Lauryn Hill Upset Philly Fans?
So you know last night Lauryn Hill and Nas rocked out in Philly. Well, I heard Nasty KILLED! You know, Nas has been on a tear recently and everybody is talking about that dude. In fact, I have a previous rumors regarding Nas from a different source. RELATED: Hip-Hop Rumors: Nas Has A Bus Load Of Rhyme Books? More! Anyway, here is my understanding of what happened. Apparently, Nas and Lauryn jointly agreed to sell premium tickets to fans. These tickets allowed fans to get backstage with both super stars, get autographs and pictures…even ask questions. Well, guess what happened? Lauryn pulled out to the chagrin of her fans! I heard many, many people were heated that this opportunity was taken from them after it was offered. Guess L-Boogie didn’t want the harassment of fielding questions. The solution? There really wasn’t one. They simply hacked the premium price in half and just had it with Nas. I heard Nas was super cool. I heard hew as answering all questions and signing anything anybody wanted. Dude is definitely focused! ___________________________________________________ Well I'm not so surprised If all that story really happened ! In fact I thought these backstage offers were weird ! That's not the politic of Lauryn hill!!! She can ask people to pay for the concert, the music, but only to see her?! That's kind of weird ! I'm surprised too that Nas accepted to do that.... I will never pay more to see Lauryn hill backstage, even if I had a lot of money. There's no freedom after that. I'd know she'd speak because I paid, and not because she wants to.... Anyway.....

If this is true, Lauryn needs to get it together she should have declined this offer in the first place. Its about time she truly connects with her true fans, you just do not do that to people who admire your craft. Yes, we do understand that she has been receiving negative press but for goodness sake these are fans who have paid to see her, she should show love. She needs to be more visible it will also help dispell the myths too. Her PR people are not working fulltime they are somewhere sleeping not taking care of business. She did the same thing in South Africa this year when she was booked for a press conference and did not pitch, its ridiculous considering how the media was so overhyped with excitement over her coming to SA. As a South African i know our journalists, they are very respectful and have integrity, they are not these lunatics that we see on American TV disrespecting celebrities.
This woman has a higher calling but there is a destruction somewhere, i love Lauryn but if this is true i cannot defend her this time. Like someone said on this blog its tough being a Lauryn Hill fan.

Sorry it took me so long to post something about the show. Been busy!
First off Ms. Hill was ON TIME! I don't know why anyone would think she was late? It could be because Electric Factory is a standing room only venue and some people had been on their feet waiting to enter as early as 3pm that day (show started at 8:30)....or it could be because Nas' set was like 90 minutes....or it could be because it was a damned Wednesday night and most people had to go to school or work the next day....or it could be because it took 45 minutes to break down Z Band's equipment and set up L's Bands'....LOL! Any of those reasons would add up to it seeming like she was late....but for once...I don't think we can blame her! The flow of the show was smooth. Jhene Aiko was aiiight! Not ina bad way, but nothing about her stands out to me. She had an OK voice. Nothing to write home about. Her band sounded nice. I will giver her props for her lyrics though. She is a poet, and she tries to be creative, not at all like the run of the mill in that regard! Music was nice, but that "thing" was missing to me.
After her set, Nas came out and I remembered how fine he was! And this was my first time seeing him live, although I have been a serious fan since "Live At The Barbecue"! One of my inspirations as writer, and I feel, the last of a dying breed of true lyricists in the mainstream. Nas put on for damn near and hour and a half...and he the material to do it. Hip-Hop heads of all shades and ages were in heaven. I was proud to see some of the young kids that actually knew "Illmatic" stuff! Makes me feel like maybe hip hop is NOT dead...
Anyway, after Nas' set, the crown was still reeling and the fact that an "R&B" act was following a strictly rap act was kind of a downer as far as the overall energy. Remember it's like 11:00 on a Wednesday night, and we've been on our feet in a JAM PACKED CLUB, and I do mean JAM PACKED CLUB, for anywhere from 6 to 9 hours at this point. No one is tryna loose their spot so we havent been buying drinks at the bar, eating, or getting merch! I think the place probably lost money at the concession/bar that night, cuz I saw more weed in the crowd than alcohol!
Some of the hardcore hiphop heads decided to roll. Mostly the young guys who came alone or as a group. Most of the guys who came with girls has to stay cuz their girls refused to miss Lauryn. One girl was cussing her boyfriend out for just asking her to leave! Anyway, a few people left while the instrument exchange from hell was going on. Both bands had A LOT of equipment! If they weren't pressed, I understand them. It was getting late, and Nas' set was so enjoyable that you would have honestly felt like you had gotten your money's worth to have seen him alone!
But my Stan ass was going nowhere and neither were most of the others! We just moved closer toward the stage until I finally ended up getting within a few feet of the stage. Ms. Lauryn Hill sounded AMAZING. And she is truly a natural beauty up close (pause)! And I am really using the word AMAZING becuz I mean it! Wow. Her voice is heavenly. I LOOOVE the hear an artist that sounds exactly the same live as on their records. And that ability is EXTREMELY, PATHETICALLY RARE. She sang I Get Out from behind the curtains to thunderous applause and came out to that sick reggae version of Killing Me Softly. Her band is great. All individual talents that work well as a unit. Watching her direct them is both genious and hilarious! She turns them up and down at will. Live direction during a performance is a lost art reserved for the talented few. She moved and they reacted. Very cool, Ms. Hill, very cool. Authoritative without bitchiness. I can dig it.
I almost got trucked by a couple chicks when she started Ex Factor! Even though the version was different, the reaction was the same. I kind of wish I had earplugs cuz I had to strain to hear HER over the wailing going on around me. Even the guys. THAT was kind of funny. My husband was singing the heck out of that song (much to my dismay). Ex-Factor, the orginal version of doo wop during her encore, and the new song Black Rage...it was VERY well received from the crowd. She spoke the lyrics as she has before, but in Philly, there was a lot of "Preach" and "Go 'head girl's" going on with each line. I wish I had taped her performance of that spoken section, cuz at one point I started to feel like I was in church! Looking for a collection plate! LOL! I want to thank her sound man for some comedy too. The entire performance Ms. Lauryn Hill was complaining about the level of her mic being low. She never said anything audible to the crowd. Just gestures. Obvious damned gestures that EVERY FREAKING PERSON in the building saw but THE SOUND GUY. She was subtle and professional about it though. I don't know what planet this dude was on, but he was not on his job. At one point me and a few women in the audience screamed out together "Fix Her Mic"! LOL!
Great show. I would pay to see both artist again. Kinda salty they didn't do If I Ruled The World together, BUT....Nat King Cole's grandson sang and he sounded GOOOOD! Favored his grandfather too. He sang a few songs during Nas' set.
I never heard anything about her not showing up at the VIP meet and greet in Philly. I saw pics of her talking to/posing with what look to be random fans like we saw from every other show. I assumed those were like VIP shots by the way people who were not in the industry were posting them on their TL's on Twitter. I don't know about any of that.

Thanks Mountzion for the review its always nice to hear the positive even though i reacted. I just love how you talk about her beauty as there has been so many false reports about that. Even when she was in South Africa people who met her sunday after her show they kept on talking about her beauty and how she looks young. I guess black does not crack

Definitely no cracking there! Her and Nas both looked half their ages. One of the reasons I never believed she was on any drugs! That crap wears on you! @hi74, you're welcome! I am so glad you got to show Ms. Hill your work! And without a ticket! LOL! Awesome!
