I knew something was wrong. smh 05-07 was a bad time for her. That's where her other lawsuits stemmed from as well. Smh
This is so deep. I pray all goes well for her and her family. Seriously she's strong as hell. It speaks millions that she hasn't sold out!!!
These dark forces and movements, that have been made known hopefully will open some people's eyes.
As Lauryn fans, we are fans of our her message, which a lot of times comes from God, and we are no sheep.

Wow....
This is a very sad story. For years, I , like many other fans, have been patiently waiting for Lauryn's return to the mainstream and for another studio album. After reading this latest story about her IRS problems, I'm now more concerned about her health (mental and physical) than her making more music.
Even though she uses many fancy words to describe her absence over the last ten years or so in her statement, it is obvious that her relationship with her record company has been and still is extremely toxic. It appears that many artist have issues with the "Middle Man" but in Lauryn's case it really seems to be extreme. Over the years, during the few times she has talked to anyone, she always hints at the fact that forces are against her to explain her absence.
My concern is, " how much more can she take?" Drama with the fugees, controversy over production credits on the MisEducation, Disputes with band members, Relationship problems, Toxic relationship with her label, negative public image, and now IRS problems.
In my view, she is still one of the most relevant artist of our time! As an outsider it is very confusing to understand the extent of the attacks she is under, but wish I knew what fans and other supporters of her music can do to help her. I'm praying she realizes that what doesn't kill you makes you stronger! Her music and her creativity may be her greatest weapon. However, I would rather her come back whole than wounded and compromised. In the end, righteousness always prevails. Lauryn, forgive them for they know not what they do. If not, bitterness and unforgiveness will take root and rule your life instead of the beautiful creativity God has given you.
The loyal fans are not going anywhere. You can only hide a light under a bushel for so long. Your true essence, intention, passion, and music will once again be revealed in God's time. In the meantime, Keep the faith!

The time has come, I think we can expect an album very soon. Way better than miseducation. That's why the forces that tried to prevent her from expressing the message she intended to are restless.
I would be very grateful if someone could explain to me one of her sentences, as English is not my mother tongue or my first language (French) maybe I misunderstood it; when she says:
"As this, and other areas of issue are resolved and set straight, I am able to get back to doing what I should be doing, the way it should be done", do you think that she mean that one of the "areas of issue" is her relation with her record company, and that she obtained creative control? I really wish that she could build her own label or at least find a label where she could have full control of her art like Motown seems to give to someone like Erykah Badu..Of course I am aware that it would cost a lot to buy her contract out and it is not as easy as it seems.
I hope fans in the US will be outside the court to support her on June 29.

Lauryn Hill's thirteen year-old daughter, Selah Marley, actually has a Twitter account and took to her Twitter yesterday to dismiss the recent rumours about her mother's legal troubles; she tweeted:
"My mother isn't f**k**g going to jail. Don't believe everything you see in the tabloids, dumbasses."
This could have just been an angry teenager venting, but as somebody that sees Lauryn every damn day, I find it easier to believe her than I do to believe websites like TMZ lol...

That is so true, Selah and Zion must have a tough time reading so many negative things about their mother becuase they are old enough to understand what is going on. The media is so cruel when it comes to black celebrities. They have tried many times to tarnish Lauryn's name by calling her a drug addict when there has never been any evidence of such behaviour, calling her crazy because she is intelligent and a non-conformist. Recently a hoe, by some stupid radio djs when she has only been known to be dating 2 men in the past 20 years. I just wish Lauryn could just do an interview to dispell all this nonsense.

When nobody can understand you and what you're about, they trash you. It's as simple as that. You've got to take the time out to really identify what other people's ambitions are, their purpose, what drives them to behave the way they do. We are all different and we should never compromise who we are for others. You can only hold somebody back for so long but ultimately they will be who they were born to be.

Lauryn inspires me and always will because in spite of her ups and downs with herself and the media, she is very sure of who she is. And what can be a greater gift than self-love and self-acceptance.

when you get to Lauryn's level of enlightenment, comments by imbeciles can only disappoint you, not hurt you.

Did you guys see the BET awards, the Lauryn Hill tax evasion joke by Mike Epps and Mindless Behaviour. That joke went flat and people were not amused. Lauryn tax situation is no joke are people aware that this woman can go to prison for 3 years. The BET awards producers were wrong on this one. I admire Beyonce for giving a shoutout to Lauryn when she received her award because she felt it was wrong for BET to make a joke about something so serious that can separate Lauryn from her family. Mindless Bahaviour is getting a lot of hate because they were used by BET producers to make fun of Lauryn, this is so unnecessary and they even apologised on twitter.
