@nutzz If you notice, the guitar players changed between the Stockholm and Berlin dates. You know that probably resulted in a long rehearsal before the Berlin date. I keep telling people she still has the voice. She is just constantly over working her voice due to the constant change in band members and background vocals. She doesn't have the budget she had during the MisEd tour to keep all of the people on retainer. She also has a family that requires her time; therefore, her rehearsal time is compressed into a short time frame with long hours. The result is a strained voice at times. She sounds beautiful when she has time to rest, but I am one of the people that appreciate the rawness as well.

I don't know what to say really.... Why oh why doesn't she rest more before shows?!?! Do you think she realises that her voice is better now?

More importantly, do you think she CARES? I think after seeing a year and a half of inconsistent vocal performances, it's safe to assume by now that Ms. Hill can care less what she sounds like, in the same respect that she can care even less what she looks like. She sounds good here, but don't get your hopes up high - consistency is definitely not her strong point.

She still plays the same song --> new music is not her strong point As you explained : "consistency is definitely not her strong point" She's on tour so she's not focus on her family only Maybe she's recording....? And the purpose of the tour is to raise money for a new album? (who knows...) What a mystery, Ms Hill....

I think everyone is just getting tired of the same material from her. "The Miseducation" was a classic, but people want to hear it in its original format, most people don't like changes to classic material. How long must we wait for new material from her? Everytime she is interviewed she give hints she's working on something, and now in 2012 and we have not heard anything. To be honest I miss the days when it was just her and her guitar at least back then she sounded good; because around 2007 something really happened to her voice. I remember on the other forum everyone used to say the constant screaming she was doing in 2007 was gonna caused her vocal damage, and it currently sounds like she has damage some cords.

I haven't been watching these performances in their entirety lately because, well, frankly I'm tired of them. The concert last night sounds just like the concert from the night before, and the month before, and the year before, and the year before that. Ms. Hill needs to take notes from D'Angelo, who at least had the courtesy to perform new songs at his "comeback" gig.

I hope she is recording or raising money for a new album, but I am not expecting any of this from her. I also don't know what is going on behind the scenes, so I don't have the right to judge her. But it's no secret that her voice is NOT what it used to be, and that it hasn't improved CONSISTENTLY just shows me that she probably doesn't care. Her voice was hoarse when she performed at the infamous 2005 BET Awards, Rock The Bells in 2010, the Aretha Franklin Tribute, and even on the Jimmy Fallon Show. These were all high-profile events, at different points in time, which is why a lot of people think she just can't sing anymore. I hope Ms. Hill will prove them all wrong by simply putting out some fresh material and of course by actually taking better care of her voice. Time will only tell though...

So when these new videos are coming out, all I really do is fish for good clips and segments that sound cool (like the new killing my softly dub version).... At least in the acoustic era she was doing new songs and keeping the classics mainly in tact (besides doo wop/lost ones on occasion) I know one thing: it is definitely a journey being a Lauryn Hill fan! lol

Her voice has been changing since the fugees era really. But things really changed around after unplugged. It took a drastic change in 2004 though when it got deeper and then raspy by 2005. The only thing that scares me is that her voice is really reminiscent of Whitney Houston's new raspy voice.
Id wish shed just release something. Even if she didnt promote it, im sure itd do well. Jeesh.
