Talib always goes hard for Lauryn. If she ever wants to work in a group again, I think she should do it with him and maybe Nas or something. They turned out to be the true friends Wyclef and Pras were not!
I'm glad he stood up for her and he is right. I say that as someone who doesn't even like everything she does these days. I don't understand the attitude of people who go to shows to boo or complain. We already know what to expect at this point. If it doesn't appeal to you, just don't go, leave, etc.

@ Jena, so true Wyclef and Pras have known Lauryn the longest but will never defend her on anything. I remember Rohan saying both went to Sony an told the record executives that she is crazy, how pathetic. With regards to certain fans, they behave like spoilt brats they should not even leave the shows they must not go period.

I was wondering where that came from, because–we’re about the same age–and we didn’t really grow up having music that contained a strong narrative like the folk musicians our parents grew up listening to, like Bob Dylan and Joni Mitchell, among others. But your songs have a really strong narrative.A lot of the country music I listened to was like that, as well as artists I started to get into in my teens like Lauryn Hill. I mean, every song on her album is a story. Every song is communicating some sort of value or lesson learned, and so I was sort of mimicking the ways they wrote because I listened to that music all the time. I also wanted to be a writer as a kid, so I was always writing stories and I guess when I decided to stop writing and start doing music, I still wanted to be able to do still write stories. Journaling has always been a huge part of my life, I did social justice type articles at uni, and I wanted a way to bring it all together. So yes, I guess it is narrative based. I’d never thought of that. pigeonsandplanes.com/2014/10/being-human-is-awesome-but-it-also-sucks-banoffee-on-life-self-belief-and-lauryn-hill/

In an interview with Jess Glynne (Clean Bandit) in 2014, she talks about being inspired to write songs after hearing the Miseducation album Going back to you, who influences your sound and your style of singing?'Oh, there are loads! I take influences from a lot of singers; soul-wise, Etta James, Aretha Franklin - all of their records gave me a lot of inspiration for vocals. Then for writing songs, Lauryn Hill is one of my biggest heroes when it comes to writing. She was the one that got me into writing, really. I hadn't fallen in love when I was a teenager, and she didn't always write about love; when I listened to The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill I realised that I could write about life'.Source: www.thefourohfive.com/music/news/article/jess-glynne-interviewed-140

Mike Posner says Lauryn Hill is one of his musical heroes. (I noticed when looking up his info after he took a hiatus from the public and did an 'unplugged' tour too. When talking he sounds like he is heavily influenced by/or shares the same views as LH on fame and the industry) THink about the 2hr mark he mentions they had a big convo earlier about LH, but can't find on this prog or if it was on air. www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0736g26

Andra Day (who was just nominated for 3 Grammys) was on q on cbc the other day and the host Shad (who is a great Canadian rapper himself) asked her about Lauryn Hill's influence, and they had a bit of a conversation on her. He must be a big fan because he brought her up out of nowhere and seemed to want to talk about her, especially shouting out the Unplugged album. www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFlAoQCCgGY (conversation starts around the 4:50 mark)
