“… ex-Fugees member Lauryn Hill performs in Florianopolis…In an interview with MTV Brasil Lauryn tells us that her next studio album should be released very soon, but did not give an exact date…It’s a shame though that Lauryn’s true Hip-Hop and R&B fans were not able to see her in Rio de Janeiro last night, as the show was held at one of the most expensive venues in Rio with prices starting around $175 USD, the show was attended by Rio’s rich and elite class that of her true fans would be hard pressed to afford a ticket. (note to American artist coming to Brazil – the average Brazilian’s salary is about $500 a month).”

“...Even with the two-hour delay compared to the scheduled time (it was supposed to be at 21:30, started at 23.30)…the singer would only enter the stage after an opening band…even with a DJ 'warming up' the audience for another half hour until Ms. Lauryn Hill…wowed attendees with several hits to his only solo album and the Fugees, starting with Lost Ones and followed by Hurts so Bad, Ex Factor, Zion, How Many Mics, Fugeela, Ready or Not...Unlike that presentations made in the city in 2007, Lauryn chose to bring a jazz band and sing less faithful versions (or less altered) from their successes…All covered by jacket, collar closed, beret and trousers, Ms. Hill just seems even eccentric at the beginning of the show, until the moment that engages and begins to jump while singing and rhymes with total ease, proving that rap is its origin and that she is the best of it…with crowded house, the show was unexpectedly good and refreshing to the image of "Aunt" Lauryn. At 35, still beautiful and in the field of her voice, she has revealed that those who bet wrong on his artistic decline and decay… The evening ended with a delicious Doo Wop (That Thing), still kept in the hearts of those who were thrilled with the ex-Fugee bursting in the late 90's (long time ago!). No encore, Lauryn, now barefoot, left the stage satisfied with the warmth of São Paulo that rainy night. After all, she is from New York, not Los Angeles.”

“The audience that packed the lane waiting for the start of the show is two hours and had begun to boo…Ms. Hill is more mature than when she debuted…with the Fugees…seems more "husky"…And a little more soft than the reclusive singer torn between career and home in a crisis that came to Brazil in 2007. Lauryn Hill MC 2010 is more than ever…she jumps without stopping and controlling the band by calling the attention of musicians…Still walks with ease by jazz, r & b and reggae - predominant in the show in 2007 (his first visit to Brazil was in 1997) - but with much less tenderness and total willingness to improvise, the good old freestyle. Lively, Hill urged the audience and the band almost all the time… On more than one and half hour show, almost no hit was forgotten, only that the public found it hard to recognize them, all rearranged and heavier than the original versions. In the first chords, the fans were concentrated, as one who tries to connect to a letter to a known melody slightly familiar at a different pace. When could hinder the tuning of Mrs. Hill. Time and again, the diva seemed irritated with the sound quality of Credicard Hall, in fact, did not help. Burst did not follow the chords and more aggressive. But not only the clothing of her music that reinvents itself here. The girl has been viewed as an icon of urban fashion and had Levi's behind the world tour back in 1999 hidden in layers and layers of clothing outside the standard of pop stars. Especially in white with blue on the baggy pants, belt with big gold buckle, shirt badados closed to the neck and very metal - necklaces, bracelets and chain to the knee - she wiped the sweat from his face every two minutes or less, with a washcloth black which she carried in her left hand until the end of the show, until the moment that changed by a flag of Brazil with a fan. The way you dance, the yellow beret with felt clothes and overlays complete a faithful image of a "dancehall queen" Jamaican ready for a family feast. The reggae album permeated the entire show, but dominated the first half hour, with an emphasis on 'Zimbabwe', one of three Bob Marley songs that were included in the set. It was from 'To Zion' (a tribute to David Zion, the first of his six children, written in 1998), the show took off and caught fire. The Fugees series, with 'Ready or Not,' 'Fu-gee-la' and 'The Mask' animated the audience, who raised his hands to worship Lauryn MC. But the ecstasy was the same moment 'Killing Me Softly with His Song', the classic voice of Roberta Flack. Arrangement with dry and devoid of groove, the music seemed new to the audience. In the second run of the hit, however, Lauryn gave a truce, with the justification 'old is gold', approached the original version, abusing the peculiar tone and powerful, only to see the audience delirious. Due recognition of the famous song, Mrs. Hill orders the band to 'break everything', and presents a course packed with a third and unprecedented opportunity for the old hit. Complete delight, surpassed only by 'Doo Wop (That Thing)' that already in encore, made the track tremble. For those who passed a few years away from the stage 'of life and taking care of children,' the possible return Lauryn Hill brings a more emphatic, fierce and powerful gestures. Ms. Hill today, no longer wishes to innovate in the visual, rather surprised with good rhymes and breathtaking rhythmic inventions. The Hill 2010 has voice, gestures and posture of one who sees a war. A kind of duel creative, anything sensual, with the audience, with the band and of course with itself. Upon leaving the show, comparisons with Erikah Baduh, another diva who toured on the same stage for less than 15 days, seemed inevitable. 'Badu is for Ella Fitzgerald to Lauryn Hill is to Nina Simone,' released a fan. And if it is Badu d'Oshun, Lauryn is pure Iansã."
