by invisible man For more check www.laurynet.comThen there was DJ Leon, I had some problems with adrop I was eating, I swallowed it and had some problems to breath. (I really, really, really didn’t have much luck on that day) My friend (who was also really sick) didn’t mentioned that, but after a while I got better. Then Wyclef came on stage and the crowd went crazy! The sound was great! I was not expecting such a good sound, after reading all these reviews. I’ll short up the concert on some crucial facts, cause the rest was already mentioned in all the reviews before: 1. The sound was perfect! 2. For me Lauryn was the party maker! Wyclef seemed to be pissed that his monitors were not loud enough, and he never really smiled. Lauryn was jumping, dancing, laughing,.talking to the crowd. Wyclef was also communicating with the crowd, but all the time it looked like he was just doing his job (I can understand this, cause you can’t be happy everyday) 3. I’m really asking myself why Pras is a member of the Fugees. I mean, what is his job? I think back in the days when everything started with the Fugees, Wyclefs aunt told him to keep an eye on his little cousin. He was (like all the other people mentioned) invisible! Lauryn and Wyclef even rapped over his parts 4. Lauryns voice was so strong! She rapped like a goddess! Wyclef was great, but Lauryn Hill was killing the rhymes, honestly she was brilliant. I have much more respect for her skills now than before. 5. Lauryns style was as always off the hook. She wore a trenchcoat that looked like the one she wore one year ago in that mysterious video shooting. I was always one of the people who said, she wears a weave, but I am sure now that it was her hair. Definitely. Maybe the bigger afros were not her hair, but yesterday she took off her cap and went with her hands through her hair. She was shaking it all the time. There can be no weave on this world that can look so real and stays so constantly on a head. 6. In my opinion there were too many gunshots during the songs and sometimes it got a little too chaotic 7. My favourites were “Lost ones”, “Fu-gee-la” and “How many mics” 8. At the end they mentioned “Take it easy”, but they didn’t play it 9. lauryn did her “towel- thing”, she even went down to the audience. But after that I got a little pissed, cause Wyclef was standing on the stage for about 10 minutes. He stood there gave some of his clothes to the people and went back to the backstage area, thena he came back and did it again. Everybody was expecting an encore and at the beginning it was still funny, but after 10 minutes watching him how he throws his clothes to the people it got really boring and I think they should have done another song when he wanted to do jokes like this. 10. Wyclef jumped from the stage together with Pras, it looked like he was bleeding (the same joke they did on all the other concerts) They also did this “Where is my cell phone thing” BORING! 11. They did a great job, but I must really confess that all these show elements of Wyclef became uninteresting cause it was so obvious that it was not spontaneous 12. Lauryn Hill put all her soul into her songs, that was really impressing. At the end she tried to pull off wyclefs pants and than she went off the stage. She did her thing, and she doesn’t need to joke around like a fool. At the end I want to say: It’s unbelievable to see a mother of four, dancing, rapping and singing like this. a longer one by fugees onlinehej! Im back as well- it was really a brilliant concert tho I had some problems getting there. My train was late and then it broke down in frankfurt so they had to change it. I was sooo late and sooo pissed. I arrived at the hall only at 20 past 8pm (concert started at 8pm) and the caribbean band was already playing... thefloor already corweded. And I was standing all the way in the back... Well, slowely I was getting closer and closer to the stage.And when Wyclef came on and did Jaump Around everybody went crazy and I got to jump to the front (to the 5th or 6th row so it was all good afteall) - it was a really energetic show. There is not much to add to invisibles review. The setlist was similar to all the other concerts...  In comparrison to the HAMBURG concert the sound was REALLY GOOD, the crowd was in a much better mood (in Hamburg there was no support act so the people just stood around being bored for a vERY long time) - in Cologne the crowed really went crazy. But I disagree that lauryns voice was strong... she sounded a bit raspy (I guess from doing all the concerts, it was much much better in Hamburg) but it was still good. Her rapping was amzing. Oh, and I agree IT IS her HAIR (for all that are interested, I even RECORDED the PART where she takes of the hat and runs through her hair... Ill post it soon!) a really hyped show!! Very hyped, sometimes chaotic but it comparrison to Hamburg the show was much more polished (although a lot of the stuff was still improvised ...) A highlight for me was when lauryn was singing "It was theee kiinnnng - thie kiiing - the kiiiing - Haille Selassie..." for about 20 times, daning around like in trance... I also recorded a part of that but I got my camera out too late so it is only the end of that singing and dancing I rrecorded... but you still get a clue. Wyclef threw all his cloth into the crowd! That was hillarious. He also did his same old same old "freestyle" - I could already rap along - that was boring, and of course his "got busted by german cops, weed" storys... But I dont think he looked like he was only doing his job... PRAS... well... he was just... PRas... he really got heard while trying to get into the crowd. I didnt really see it but someone frrom the 1st row told me afterwards...He has bad luck all the time...! oh well... I agree: the background singers were really amazing... Jerry Wonder too (bass player). He had soo much fun joking around with Clef and Lauryn... peace!

Okay I don't have much more to say then what invisible and Fugees-online already wrote down here. It was a great night and they really rock.
1.The moment that every took out their telefone and the people with the firework that was so great.
2. Lauryn trying to strip WyClef... LOL that was so much fun.
3. WC almost broke Pras neck.
4. Lauryn "Iam the king" moment.
5. Wyclef threw all his cloth into the crowd!

Balsam für die Rapper-SeeleBei ihrem Reunion-Konzert in der Kölnarena wurden die Fugees gefeiert. Auf Songs vom neuen Album und eine Zugabe warteten die Fans aber vergeblich. Ein Lichtkegel fällt auf die scratchende Figur hinter den Turntables. Samples aus alten Tagen hallen durch die Kölnarena. „Ready or Not" schallt für einige Sekunden aus der Anlage. Jubel bricht aus, um sich beim nächsten Fugees-Sample noch zu steigern. Plötzlich springt Wyclef Jean hinter dem Discjockey hervor und eröffnet in unnachahmlicher Art das Reunion-Konzert der Fugees in der gut besuchten Halle. Hatte man sich bei der Hinterhof-Reggae-Band, die den Abend als Supportband eröffnet hatte, noch ein Zehnerpack Ohrstöpsel gewünscht, so kennt die Begeisterung jetzt keine Grenzen mehr. Das Publikum ist kaum zu halten und steigt sofort in das energiegeladene Geturne des Amerikaners ein. Mit Mantel, Schal und Mütze schreitet wenig später Lauryn Hill auf die Bühne und wird fast noch frenetischer gefeiert als Wyclef. Auch Pras Michel wird wenig später würdig empfangen. Das Trio ist wieder vereint – die Fugees stehen gemeinsam auf der Bühne und rappen ihre Lyrics in die Arena hinaus, als hätten sie die vergangenen Jahre nichts anderes gemacht. Doch die Musik ist rauer, aggressiver, härter. Die Klassiker der Formation sind in Reggaeklängen und schnellen Beats neu verpackt. Am Anfang fehlt es an Soul in Lauryn Hills Performance, die zur Vorturnerin wird und fast keine Sekunde still stehen kann, sondern quer über die Bühne tanzt. Erst als sie ihre Soloeinlage „Doo Wop (That Thing)" zum Besten gibt und ihre Kappe ablegt, um eine prächtige Afrofrisur zu enthüllen, erklingt das volle R‘n‘B-Volumen ihrer Stimme. Trotz der Fanresonanz scheint sie distanziert, fast damenhaft. Ganz im Gegenteil zu ihren beiden Kollegen: Den Bodyguards steht die Panik förmlich ins Gesicht geschrieben, als sich Wyclef und Pras immer wieder in Richtung Bühnengraben aufmachen, um die kreischenden Massen aus nächster Nähe zu erleben. Spätestens bei Pras‘ Crowdsurfing-Versuch geht dann endgültig der Beschützer-Instinkt mit den Leibwächtern durch: Kurzerhand wird der Rapper aus den Fängen der Fans gerissen und wieder auf die Bühne gezerrt. Vielleicht fühlt er sich von nun an gebremst. Zumindest ist von Pras nach seiner Solo-Performance von „Ghetto Superstar" nicht mehr viel zu sehen. Der Herr begnügt sich damit, im Hintergrund zu stehen und dem Live-DJ bei der Arbeit über die Schulter zu blicken. Kontrolldrang eines Produzenten oder die Lustlosigkeit eines blassen Fugeelas? Dennoch kommt nur selten das Gefühl auf, man hätte die rund 45 Euro für die Eintrittskarte „ver-Pras-st": Vor allem Wyclef stellt seine großen Qualitäten als Entertainer unter Beweis, sei es durch einen Salto rückwärts aus dem Stand, mit den Zähnen gespielte Gitarrensoli à la Jimi Hendrix oder seine politischen Messages, mit denen er George W. zum Rückzug aus dem Irak auffordert. Selbst wenn Anti-Bush-Parolen mittlerweile ein recht abgekautes Mittel amerikanischer Musiker sind, um das deutsche Publikum anzuheizen – kaum jemand beherrscht dies so, wie Wyclef an jenem Montagabend mit dem Bob Marley-Cover „No Woman, No Cry". Das Meer von hin- und herwiegenden Armen pusht den Rap-Gitarristen bis hin zu einem Striptease, den er am Ende der Show hinlegt. Wyclef hat sichtlich den meisten Spaß an der Tour – und mittlerweile wahrscheinlich die wenigsten Klamotten im Reisegepäck: Nicht nur sein letztes Hemd, auch die Hose wird den jubelnden Fans hingegeben, die sich um die verschwitzten Kleider reißen, als wären sämtliche H&M-Läden abgebrannt. So schlurft Wyclef schließlich nur in Shorts bekleidet als letzter der Drei von der Bühne. Nach den letzten zwei gefloppten Solo-Alben kann eine solche Fan-Resonanz nur Balsam für die Rapper-Seele sein. Von neuem Fugees-Material war übrigens weit und breit nichts zu hören. Selbst „Take it easy", die erste Auskopplung ihres dritten Albums, das ab Ende dieses Monats in den Plattenläden stehen soll, drang nur in einer spontan umgetexteten Version durch die Kölnarena. Ein wenig verblüffend, hätten sich Fans und Kritiker doch gleichermaßen über eine Kostprobe der neuen Songs gefreut. Die blieb den Zuhörern genau wie eine Zugabe leider verwehrt. Wo „Fugees Reunion Tour" draufsteht, sind anscheinend nur Klassiker drin. Das einstige Triumvirat des Hip Hop ist wieder da und hat gezeigt, dass es auch noch fast zehn Jahre nach seiner Herrschaft der Rap-Krone würdig ist. Ob sie diese allerdings wieder aufsetzen können, wird Album Nummer drei zeigen. Die Rückkehr der FlüchtlingeERSTELLT 21.12.05, 07:03h Fast zehn Jahre lang ist die Band nicht mehr öffentlich gesichtet worden.  Als Erster springt Wyclef Jean auf die Bühne in der Kölnarena, und fordert fröhlich „Jump around“, „Beckenbauer“ verkündet sein T-Shirt. Der Mann gefällt eben gerne. Schnell folgt Lauryn Hill, den riesigen Afro unter einer entsprechend großen Häkelmütze verborgen, und schließlich steht mit Pras Michael auch der dritte Fugee auf den Brettern. Die Fugees! Da sind sie also wieder. Seit fast zehn Jahren hat man die einst erfolgreichste HipHop-Crew des Planeten nicht mehr zusammen gesehen. Jetzt fällt es fast ein wenig schwer zu glauben, dass sie da wirklich zusammen in die Mikros rappen. Und dabei völlig unspektakulär aussehen. Jahrelang schien die Popwelt nichts sehnlicher herbeizuwünschen als ein Comeback der Fugees. Doch seit zwei Jahren tummeln sich die Black Eyed Peas überaus erfolgreich exakt in der Leerstelle, welche die Fugees zurückgelassen hatten: beim Rap-Act, bei dem auch deine Mama mitsummt. Seitdem hat niemand mehr die Frage nach der Fugees-Reunion gestellt. Und plötzlich gehen sie gemeinsam auf Tour, die Fugees. Ein neues Album ist auch angekündigt. Das kann man nur verdammt schlechtes Timing nennen. Die Kölnarena jedenfalls bleibt halb leer. Wer kam, wird allerdings mit einem wenn nicht überragenden, so doch sehr energetischen Auftritt belohnt. Zwar lassen die drei ehemaligen Geschichts-Studenten aus New Jersey kaum einen Hit aus - einzig Wyclefs Geigen-Schnulze „Gone 'til November“ wird schmerzlich vermisst. Doch für langweilige, familientaugliche Nostalgie-Anfälle sind sie zum Glück noch immer zu jung. Da schubst Wyclef Jean seinen Cousin Pras in den Bühnengraben und springt gleich hinterher. Da steigert Lauryn Hill ihre Rap-Salven bis zum heiseren Gekeife oder singt nach dem Ende eines Songs einfach lautstark weiter, bis die Band wieder improvisierend einfällt. Fast jeder Track wechselt unberechenbar zwischen HipHop- und Reggae-Rhythmen, steigert sich auch schon mal bis in frenetische Dancehall-Tempi. „I woke up this morning I was feeling kinda high, it was me, Jesus Christ and Haile Selassi I.“, skandieren die drei, bis aus den verkifften Zeilen ein mächtiges, alles niederwalzendes Mantra wird. Die Fugees haben immer noch mehr Ecken, Kanten und Talent, als ihre nachgewachsene Konkurrenz. Ein wenig traurig wird man dennoch, wenn man ihnen zuschaut. Schließlich hätten sie nicht nur groß, sie hätten gigantisch werden können. Und warum ist Lauryn Hill kein Weltstar? Bis heute gibt es nur zwei Fugees-Alben. Mit „Blunted on Reality“ veröffentlichten sie 1994 ein fantastisches Debüt. Zwei Jahre später legten sie mit „The Score“ einen enorm erfolgreichen Nachfolger nach. „The Score“ verkaufte 17 Millionen Einheiten, mehr als irgendein HipHop-Album zuvor. „Killing Me Softly“, die unwiderstehliche Roberta-Flack-Coverversion, die den Fugees ihren größten Hit bescherte, war in Deutschland die erste HipHop-Nummer eins in der Single-Hitparade. Auch wenn nur wenig in der Ballade an HipHop erinnerte. Oder gerade deshalb. HipHop war mit den Fugees im Mainstream angekommen. Kompromisslosere Künstler wie Eminem oder Jay-Z hätten vor den Fugees wohl kaum Chancen auf vordere Chart-Plätze gehabt. Das ist umso erstaunlicher, als die „Haitianer im Geiste“ (nur Wyclef Jean ist tatsächlich auf der Karibik-Insel geboren) sich stets als politische Band verorteten. „Fugees“ steht schließlich für „refugees“, Flüchtlinge, und der Pop-Appeal der HipHop-Crew ergibt sich ironischerweise gerade aus diesem gelebten Nicht-Ankommen. Später, als Lauryn Hill 1998 ihr unglaubliches Solo-Album herausbrachte, sahen viele in ihr den zweiten postkolonialen Superstar nach Bob Marley. „The Miseducation“ verkaufte sich prächtig und brachte Hill fünf Grammys ein. Dann bekam Hill vier Kinder mit ihrem Ehemann Rohan Marley, einem Sohn der Reggae-Legende, und zog sich ins Privatleben zurück. Hatten wir schon „Ironie“ gesagt? Am Ende des Konzerts, das Putzlicht scheucht die Fans ins Parkhaus, kommen die Fugees noch einmal auf die Bühne und lassen sich bejubeln. Wyclef wirft erst seine Sneakers und dann sein T-Shirt ins Publikum. Der Mann gibt eben gern und viel. hi!
i was at the show, and i cant discripe what a show that was!
fantastic, i dont know any other words to say!
i was standing first row in the middle of the stage and from that moment wyclef opened the show, i
didnt stopped moving!
it was so imperessive seeing the three jumping up and down and the whole arena bouncing with them.
it seemed to me that everybody knew the texts, the atmosphere was unbelievable!
i just enjoyed the show, and wyclefs freestyle and "stop the war" can be old and well-known,
it just felt great being there and to party with all those people.
but the most amazing point of the concert was when "beast" , this huge bodyguard brought us into the backstage zone (do somebody know if he is indian? my friend said that he would wear a panjabi-band)
and in the backstage area, it was so cool.
wyclef was just cool, gave autographs, hugs and made pictures with everyone around him.
no worldstar attitude, great!
if the fugees ever come back to cologne, i will be there, once again in the first row.
that was an expirience i never want to loose,
watch out fugees, and come back to germany, PLEASE
