Hi there.
Just got back from the Fugees concert in Copenhagen.
I definitely owe to give something back to this forum so heres my review of the fugees concert in Forum Copenhagen 5/12 05.
First of all. It was an uneven concert with ups and downs - thankfully most ups.
The sound was terrible especially in the upbeat songs where it was hard to hear anything.
The concert started with a 15 minute DJ act. It was really dull. Just playing recent hip hop songs and not doing any scratching. Only the last three minutes was worth listening to.
Then Clef came on stage and said a bunch of things. And the first number played was Cypress Hill "Jump". After this they played a few short versions of different old school hip hop songs that they halted midways. Sort of stating that they owe much from these artists.
Then the first number I didn't recognize - I bet it as a new number. They played in all 3 from the new one I guess incl. the hit Take it easy.
Then How many mics. Awesome!!!
Lauren looked stunning - but in very old school clothes. Unfortunately my pictures are not worth putting here - lousy phone camera.
The set was different from what has been said of Oslo and Stockholm.
In not the really right order I will put them here.
Jump,
Cowboys
How many mics
Family business
Zealots
Lot ones
911
Ghetto superstar
Fu-gee-laa
ready or not
The mask
Killing me softly
The beast
Perfect gentleman
Doowoop
No woman no cry
Take it easy
And lastly
The score
Pras was practically worthless. Only in ghetto superstar that he played solo did you notice him. He made an imperfect stage dive. Embarrassing
Wyclef was super. He went up on the balcony in Perfect gentleman - 5 meters up and crawled up un the fence.
Lauren was in the mood. Looked more happy than in a long time.
To sum up. There were memorable moments - fx. killing me softly, ready or not, 911, perfect gentleman. And some lows from the new CD.
The sound was bad but really good at the slower songs.
Pras said as he apparently did in Sweden and Norway that we were the loudest crowd ever - Take that Oslo Go home Flexness and Drillo - we are louder than you. But I bet we loose that title tomorrow.
The venue was only half full - that took a bit from the atmos.
I would give the concert 4 out of 6.
Best regards from Denmark - Troltuu
