review:
"How will I ever be able to describe last night's concert for yall? It was without a doubt the best concert I've ever attended - And I've been to loads, so I'm not easy to impress. I've never seen so much energy and charisma from an artist before, and never heard such vocally/musically perfection... I think the band (a HUGE band actually, I think there were like 15 people on stage) was brilliant and it seemed like they had a real good connection to eachother, the band and Lauryn. Well, I'd better start with the beginning:
She was only fashionably late this time - 25 minutes maybe - and before she came out on stage, a presenter came out and said "Miss Hill says she looking forward to play for you guys and being to first to perfrom on this stage - She wants you to know, that due to a lot of touring her voice might be a little raspy". I was negative from the beginning because of the review of the London show and this about her voice made me even more negative. Then the band came out on stage and a few moments later, Lauryn herself came out - Looking VERY good to my surprise (a medium sized 'fro, big earrings, some blue "sports" t-shirt (you know, with numbers on), loads of bracelets, tight red pants and KILLER stilettoes!). She was just gorgeous. The first song was Doo wop and she was ON FIRE from the very start! She had so much energy and was dancing most of the time... The crowd was totally feeling her and went SO crazy! I can't remember the setlist in correct order, but here's the songs she played in random order:
Doo wop
Lost ones
To Zion
Iron, Lion, Zion
Conformed to love
Freedom time
I just want you around
Ex-factor
Vampire something? (it was a song I didn't know, but I think it had the word "vampire" innit?)
Sweetest thing? (again, I didn't know this song but it had those words in the chorus)
I had to walk
Final hour
Some Bob Marley song (I think)
Damnable Heresies
The miseducation
Killing me softly
Ready or not
How many mics
Fu-gee-la
Encore:
Everything is everything
I am probably forgetting some songs, Christian can you help me out here?
Every song was performed good, there was not a single bad one, but of course some songs were better than others. To point out a few, I have to say that Lost ones was... orgasmic, really! It was SO good! The way she started out with "it's funny money change a situation" and she kept saying that for so long, builing up the energy and then in the end went so loud and clear "IT'S FYNNY HOW MONEY CHANGE A SITUATION!" OMG that was good! To Zion is one of my favorites so I was excited to hear that one - Especially the "marching" part in the end was brilliant. Conformed to love was another one that gave me chills - Just her with a guitar and her vocal was really really good actually! Not "I-can't-hit-the-cords-right" sorta raspy, but "sexy-powerfull-Lauryn-style" sorta raspy! If ya know what I mean I just want you around was amazing too. She directed the band a bit and I loved it. Then there was a song I didn't know, something with Vampire - It was GOOD! Really good. Of course the crowd went crazy to the Fugees songs and even in the end of the show she was still all over stage, dancing and stuff... and the crowd was definitely with her.
The whole atmosphere was just HYPED UP. It was this new stage, which was floating on water (In the CPH habour) so the settings could not have been more beautiful. During the concert all these little boats came and stopped, so they could hear the concert - It was amazing and a guy from one of these boats kept waving with a huge PEACE flag. The climax of the concert was probably during Killing me softly, where this guy actually JUMPED IN THE WATER and swam all the way up to the stage, where he sorta splashed around for awhile - And then when the security guards sailed out to get him, he climbed on stage and started blowing air kisses to Lauryn. I'm telling you, it was priceless and so sweet! Christian, I'm gonna laugh I disagree off if that guy was you!!! Lauryn couldn't help laughing and then came over and shook his hand. After the security guards had caught him, yet another guy jumped in the water and tried to swim to the stage... The security people got him and while they were trying to get him up in the boat, guy number 1 jumped in the water again! It was hysterical! When they were both in the boat, 2 other guys jumped in the water and it was just chaotic! The crowd was going completely and utterly crazy while Lauryn was during her thing on stage and all those guys were in the water. That moment is definitely something I will remember for the rest of my life, no doubt about it!
When the concert was over, everybody started walking out of the habour and suddenly I heard people screaming - Then I saw that a car was driving right in the middle of this crowded road with security guards around it. When it passed me, I saw Lauryn just sitting there by the open window - She was SO pretty and was waving to people... The car started driving faster and i kinda paniced, so i yelled to my sister "take my shoes!" and then I ran as fast as I could, just to see her one last time! I wanted to tell her what a great concert it was, but then I thought it be be rude to just yell her in the face, so I just looked at her instead.
I would definitely give this concert an A+ and it totally made up for all of her bad concert these past weeks. Yall shouldn't be worried about her - She hasn't changed and I think we will get a new album soon! I know for sure, that I will do all that I can to go to another concert with her, even if it's in another country. My sis is totally hooked on her aswell after this show, heh. Can't wait to hear what you thought about everything Christian!
Ps: I'm still a bit in shock after the show, so I can't really bother to check if I've written this whole thing correctly (spelling and such)."
