Hi! i just got back from Lauryn Hill's concert in the UK, its late so im going 2 do a quick review now and a long, with full description one tomorrow. I deeply admire Lauryn Hill's work so this review it by someone who has been deeply touched by Lauryn Hill's music language.
Over all Lauryn Hill did not satisfy me. I dont care about the fact that she was about 1 hr and 15 minutes late (I actually like that cause it makes you enjoy the concert better). When she came on stage she did a few fast songs, in the middle about three poems, which were hard for me to understand cause of the complicated words! That took about half an hour and she finished with everything is everthing, ready or not and fugee-la, they were amasing, (ill go into more detail tomorrow). Alot of the performance was rushed and only lasted 1hr and 15 minutes (including the poems, which took half an hour!)there was no encore!! it was so short, it seemed like when it began it finished!!! unsatisfied!!!!!!!!!!!!!! talk 2 u tomorrow!

As somebody who has been to all of Lauryn's UK concerts so far, I was bitterly disappointed at what was an unbelievably poor performance. I find it hard to believe that traffic was so bad in London at 9pm that she was over an hour late, and then when she came on nearly all her material was weak. She was unable to read the audience (the ones that endured waiting 3 hours) and bored them into submission with her Unplugged crap (Social Drugs etc - which I am sure she was on at the time) and her awful poetry..to quote "I hate capitalism, ageism racism...blah blah blah". Crap. Then some song which sounded much likeshe had made up the words whilst stuck in her traffic jam. Heckled by the audience she wanted to continue her poetry and more people left. the saving grace was the last three songs, which showed that there is still a glimmer of the old Lauryn left, but unfortunately rushed. She refused to do an encore which is bad in light of the delays and her perfomance overall. I won't be forking out £45 again to see this diva who peaked ages ago and seems not to care about her fans...the way I see it unless she rejoins with the Fugees her solo career is dead.

Delicate or not, She needs to learn how to be a professional....
Not good being and 1.5 hours late for your show....
Such a shame as when it was going, it was amazing....

Hi! This is a good review of the concert, it helps you understand what happened better if you were there cause sometimes you couldnt hear everything Lauryn Hill said: www.rapnews.co.ukBecause the concert was already well reviewed, I'm not going to add too much to it. I wrote it didnt satisfy me because I felt I needed her to do more songs, the ones she did were amasing, but to me it was too short! And it was not so much rushed, she just seemed, slightly, to be trying to fit as many songs in as possible (which isnt a bad thing considering the time, but I would have enjoyed the concert with one of my favourate musicians much more if there was no pressure on time, that, to me, realy lets you enjoy the art more!). Feel free to post your comments on the performance, or any questions. I hope, whatever Lauryn Hill decides to do with her talents, she will be happy and fullfiled by God.

yeah she was extrmely late, and yeah she gave an awful reason- but the show was good, and im sure ht only reason she rushed it was because she didnt have much time- but yes that was her own fault. However when they tried to force her off stage she kept going untill they basically forced her off- and i respect her for that because she could have just given up. I couldnt beleive it when they turned the lights on! I had a great night- she was great, and over all it was a good night just seeing her was amazing. I agree it could have been a lot better if she had just turned up on time, but ive paid and ive been and had a great time and i dont think theres any point contineusly complaining about it!

AndrewW, she didn't "refuse to do an encore". She was literally cutoff. I'm not speculating as to this. I'm telling you for a fact that they cut her off (thank your local Unions for that). No excuse for her lateness but that audience was completely classless. No wonder she perfers to play Monte-Carlo where she did an amazing 2 hour show with encore. No poetry. Awesome setlist. A lot of improvising with the band. She also changed up the show. More band, less acoustic. I think she must have read her London audience correctly. They sucked. You think she's a robot? I'm sure you sucked the life out of her and her band. Anyone that stayed, however, saw that she turned the crowd around and had them going pretty good once she hit the Fugee mix. PS, the Monte-Carlo show cost less than the UK show too. Sucker.
