P.s is the lauryn hill and pharoahe monch track definitely going to happen and has any1 heard it? Pharohaes album has been delayed until late March/early April! This is, what OKAYPLAYER.com says: "But enough about the past. Our boy k-os has a new album about to drop in the US in February. Listen to new music on his Myspace. While we have yet to announce the exact street date, Desire, the new album from Pharoahe Monch, should be expected late March / early April. Before all that though, Common steps back onto the silver screen with Smokin' Aces, in theaters Jan 26th." source: www.okayplayer.comPREVIEW some songs from the upcoming album "DESIRE"at www.pharoahe-monch.com/

Here is a review I found of the show last night:
sorry to shit-on-parade her, but this has to be addressed. the inferior sound quality over at LH's stage was absolutely unacceptable and unforgivable. in my opinion, to even consider having her play on anything less than a fully equipped main stage is direct insult to her and her band as high tier musicians. those in attendance should feel extremely grateful that she willingly pushed her vocal chords to near failure, and gave us all a 90+ minute show, while the sound progressively decreased in quality to what seemed like AM radio status. i just hope with all of the $$$ the promoters have undoubtedly raked in, they might have enough left over at the end of the day to purchase a f**k**g clue. i hear they're pretty reasonably priced at your local pawn shop these days...next to the tin cans they bought for the dynamic sound system

Here is another review:
And before Dawn Penn came out, I was all excited, cause I had PRIME seats… right next to the stairs that led to the stage… right NEXT to the stairs that Lauryn Hill, one of my musical mentors, was going to walk up to get to the stage to perform. And then I woke up. The promoter over the speakers announces that BEFORE Lauryn Hill performs, EVERYONE backstage needed to clear out. Wait…. was he talking to me?? Does he KNOW how much i LOVE Lauryn Hill?? Does he REALIZE how much of an impact she’s made on me in my music career?? Of course not! And neither does Lauryn… cause we had to squeeze in the massive crowd of screaming people in front of the massive stacks of BLARING high treble speakers. It was so loud and unbearable, that I had to grab paper… which, as a last resort, ended up being a receipt from the post office… from my wallet, and shove pieces of it in my ear to block out the highs that were coming from the speakers… 15 feet in front of us. MacGyver, baby! Ho. Good thing I didn’t have a retractable pen… i could’ve made a weapon with it. ANYways… it was ghetto. It worked though. I convinced a girl to get her Crystal Gyser water bottle wrapper and shove it in her ear. One day she’ll thank me. haha…
The anticipation was making me crazy… Lauryn Hill was going to be on stage, LIVE, in front of me. And it really was worth it, cause her presence was illuminating. She was working her afro hair do. She had these crazy earrings on. It looked like 20 different types of earring put together, on each ear. She was also pimpin’ a beige-colored trench coat, a red flannel button-up shirt, jeans with holes at the knees and the bottoms cuffed up to the middle of her calves, and these insane black and goldish multi-strapped 3 inch heels. How do these women like Lauryn Hill, Gwen Stefani and Mailani Makainai (lol) find ways of putting together the most random outfits and yet we trip on them for having the “balls” (for lack of a better word) to do it?? Pimpin’.
What amazed me the most was how it seemed like it took her a song or cool to really get into the groove. I saw her take a few deep breaths and had some looks of hesitation. And, right before she opened her mouth to say the first few words of the opening song, she had this look as if to say, “Ok… here we go…” — and off she went. It was beautiful music in raw form. I freakin’ loved it. I LOVED that she’d stop her band and made them start over to really MOVE us. I LOVED that she’d remind them, over the mic, to “PLAY HARD… not PLAY LOUD.” I LOVED that she’d tell them to pick the tempo up, and then would flutter her hand around as if to say, “FASTER, you dumb ass.” hahaha… she seems like such the diva… I mean, we all got kicked out the back and they had to drive her into the backstage… but, it didn’t bug me. It didn’t make me think, “wow, Lauryn… Ms. Hill, too GOOD for your fans?” That raw performance really made me dig her even more. I feel a little bad for the band though… nah. not really. You’re playing for Lauryn Hill… do your thang! She did a couple renditions of “Lost Ones” and “Ex-Factor” and often transitioned her songs into Bob Marley classics. It was… REFRESHING. REALLY rejuvinating for me. She even carried a freakin’ music stand on stage that had her music notes on it. Though, I’d only see her looking at it briefly before going into certain songs, it was something that a performer like me, WANTED to see. I think we grow up as adults and in our careers, looking at examples of others that have found success walking in the path that we are now on and often get discouraged when we see others easily gain the praise and visual rewards before we do, even though we work 2, 3, even 4 times harder than they do. It’s so REFRESHING to see our mentors… these GREAT examples that we so eagerly look up to, bring things down a notch, or do something… NOT SO PERFECT. Something that helps us think… you know what?? I CAN do this. Of course, we may NEVER reap the same rewards or recognition as the next person, but rewards and recognition come in al different forms. I think that if we all work hard and do our best in everything we do, we will gain something out of it. EXPERIENCE in one thing can always be used towards accomplishing goals and gaining experience in another thing.
Thanks Ms. Lauryn Hill, for sharing your music with us and continuing to be an inspiration for me and other artists, other females, who look up to you! Thanks

so inspiring last night.... Lauryn Hill was great last night! Pepper too! I actually got to meet them backstage, it was weird how I ended up there, Budweiser hookups though...... Lauryn Hills band, damn, they were awesome! Its like they reinvented The wailers with a modern more hiphop feeel. Awesome! I left last night bout 330am, got home 4, had to work at 530am, so, I just didn't show up ...I'll deal/worry about the consequences of my actions when they find me. ha!
